The New York Daily News reported that a "boozed-up bigot" attacked Muslim cab driver Ahmed Sharif in the throat, lip, arm and hand with a pocket knife. He was treated at Bellevue Hospital and released with minor injuries.

Alleged attacker Michael Enright, 21, was captured after attempting to flee and sent to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and was arraigned on Wednesday. That raises an interesting question, though: Will his New York criminal attorney attempt an insanity defense?

Many might argue that bigotry of any kind is a form of insanity, although that may not fly in a court of law. Michael Enright was charged with felony attempted murder, which will be tried as a hate crime.

A 40-year-old woman wanted for attempted murder and weapons charges was arrested in the Bronx over the weekend, according to the New York Daily News. She was once featured on "America's Most Wanted" and has been a fugitive for 15 years.

Patty Carrion, who at first told police her name was Yesima Hernandez, was arraigned last Monday and is being held at Rikers Island. It wasn't clear whether or not she had retained the services of a New York criminal attorney.

Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Ice-T

Many New Yorkers probably remember rapper Ice-T's huge outburst last month when he was pulled over on the West Side of Manhattan for not wearing a seatbelt. Yet it looks like Ice-T will now be able to keep his cool since the criminal charges against him have been dropped.

The New York Post reports that the rapper was charged in July for driving with a suspended license, but posted on his Twitter that the charges were "bulls**t" immediately after his arrest and used other foul language to describe New York law enforcers. Ironically, Ice-T has composed rap songs about killing cops. The man had New York criminal defense attorneys Eric Franz and Timothy Parlatore prepared to represent him in court, but prosecutors decided to drop the charges yesterday.

Prosecutors Won't File Charges Against Michael Haynes

It looks like European pro basketball player Michael Haynes won't even be needing help from a New York criminal defense attorney, since prosecutors have declined to officially file charges against the man.

The New York Post reports that Michael Haynes, who played power forward for Ludwigsburg in Germany, was involved in a sex scandal last week in which he was accused of holding a woman down while his friend Brandyn Cooper sexually abused her during an incident at the Ritz-Carlton. The two men used to play basketball together on Fordham University's 2004 basketball team. They were reportedly at the Ritz-Carlton hotel for the Nike World Basketball Festival at Madison Square Garden.

Steven Slater Arrested After Dramatic JetBlue Exit

Steven Slater became an Internet sensation overnight after he left his job as a JetBlue flight attendant in the most dramatic way possible. The flight attendant burst into rage on Monday when an airline passenger was being rude on Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh to New York. The Huffington post reports that when the plane was taxiing to the gate at JFK Airport, Steven Slater kindly said into the intercom "To the passenger who just called me a motherf***er, f*** you. I've been in this business 28 years, and I've had it."

The flight attendant then grabbed a beer off of the beverage cart and made his grand exit by activating the emergency chutes and sliding off the plane.

Rudy Giuliani's Daughter Busted For Shoplifting

New York law enforcers arrested Caroline Giuliani, daughter of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, after she allegedly took over $100 worth of makeup from an Upper East Side Sephora store and put the cosmetics into her jacket pocket. The items included a Slim roller ball funnel, Dior Skin flash primer, Hd bliss, Aqua cream, and a hair net.

The New York Post reports that she was placed behind bars at the 19th Precinct station for petit larceny last week. However, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office may have some difficulties prosecuting Caroline Giuliani because Sephora stated that they declined to press charges once they learned that Caroline was the daughter of the city's former mayor.

Husband Posts Devi Silvia's Bail

The devastating story of a mother that allegedly threw her 19-month-old baby in the Hudson River to get back at her husband when she was angry with him may have somewhat of a happy ending after all.

New York Daily News reports that the 34-year-old mother Devi Silvia now has a New York criminal defense attorney that is using the insanity defense so that she can avoid a conviction of attempted murder. Lawyers say that Devi Silvia was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that the woman was legally insane at the time the crime was committed.

Foxy Brown Gets into Fight With Manager Bernadette Brennan

Foxy Brown was arrested about two weeks ago for violating a protective order and faces charges of public lewdness, harassment, and criminal contempt in connection with an incident in which she got into a dispute with her neighbor. Yet New York Daily News reports that this isn't the only legal trouble that the rapper could be facing.

After another fight broke out last week in a Manhattan apartment building, Foxy Brown could be facing even more criminal charges. It looks like a New York criminal defense attorney will have to come to her rescue if she wants to avoid jail.
